Birth of a new design - part 6

I am quite pleased with the tree trunk and the dates, although I am concerned about the base of the tree which in the original painting is rather confusing, as there is so little to see. It is similar to something else I have failed to identify, and that is what is supporting the stork.

There are a great many smaller leaves behind the acanthus leaves which might have to be my next venture.

A little navy background colour has crept in to remind me how the finished piece should look. It is easy to underestimate the difference a change in background can make.
