Eden

Eden

William Morris trained Henry Dearle as a tapestry weaver but he rose through the ranks of Morris & Co to become chief designer and, after Morris' death in 1896, his successor. Although he was certainly influenced by Morris, Dearle shows his own originality in his design for the fabric Eden, and clearly demonstrates an interest in the near East with a symmetrical design of flowers contained in ogival compartments.
