Strawberry Thief
The inspiration for William Morris' best loved Strawberry Thief design came while he watched thrushes stealing the strawberries from his garden at Kelmscott Manor. Despite his frustration at losing his fruit, rumour has it that Morris ordered the birds to be left in peace. Designed in 1883, some of the original fabric can still be seen at Kelmscott. Beth Russell has adapted the design into a collection of four cushions and two miniatures, all on Morris' trademark blue background.
