Kazak Rug

Description
Needlepoint kit for rug
At the same time as the Arts & Crafts Movement was active in Europe, the nomadic Cossack tribes in the Caucasus region between the Black and Caspian Seas were weaving their own distinctive and colourful rugs. The name 'Cossack' derives from the Turkish word 'kazak' which means 'free man' or 'adventurer'. Morris and his contemporaries were all heavily influenced by the styles of the East and Beth has followed their lead in this regard and designed this delightfully simple rug. The kit includes the cord for the fringing.
